Facebook’s Libra cryptocurrency is seen as something against its better judgement due to the apps related mishandled the user’s personal data, mid last year. This also led many parties to have different thoughts on the idea of Libra.
Despite that, IBM, a tech giant, has come forward to collaborate with Facebook, on its own cryptocurrency, Libra. “Blockchain is a team sport. Our clients are ready to work with [Facebook], and we’re ready to work with all of them to bring it together” said Jason Kelley, IBM’s General Manager of Blockchain Services.
The multinational information technology company is interested in Libra, not as a cryptocurrency, but an asset tokenization. Kelly does distant himself from cryptocurrencies and focuses on tokenization that allows digitizing any type of assets that include stocks and also fiat.
“We talk about Libra, and people say it’s just another crypto. […] Set crypto aside and talk about tokenization, because that’s what we’re talking about,” he explained. As he feels the action of Facebook entering into the blockchain and crypto arena will eventually make it more accepted.
