myFreeview, Malaysia’s free digital television initiative offers 14 most popular tv channels and 6 radio channels, all free to air with zero subscription fee.
Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced that the government plans to fully exchange the current analogue TVs to Digital TVs by 31st October. It is remarkable that the Central and Southern region of Peninsular Malaysia has accomplished its analogue to digital TV transition on 30th September.
Some of the available channels apart from TV1, TV2 and TV3 are OKEY, TV Al-Hijrah, RTM HD Sports, and Drama Sangat TV3. Two of the users from Bukit Lanchong, Selangor have come forward to share their experience on myFreeview.
Diyana, a 27-year old mother to two toddlers who shared, “I have been watching digital TV on my CRT television for the last 6 months and have found that the pictures are much clearer. Before this, I could only watch 3 channels. Now, I can watch 15 channels and it’s free of charge, so I do not have to pay monthly”.
Zainab Bte Abdan, a 50-year old housewife expressed, “now I can watch TV anytime, no matter if it rains or not. The visual is clear and in HD, the colour is also nice. I love to watch the shopping channels so with myFreeview, I can buy what I like any time and I do not have to pay monthly anymore to get good programmes.”
