Traceability, basically the ability to trace is exceptionally essential in order to track the originality and processes involved, especially in the food and beverage industry.
SUKU, a platform that makes commerce more transparent and efficient for consumers and brands with the blockchain technology has joined hands with the third-largest listed retail company in Latin America, Centros Comerciales Sudamericanos S.A. (Cencosud) to ensure the highest levels of food safety and quality.
The partnership’s first execution will be for the leading Peruvian supermarket chain, Wong, to enable guarantees the traceability and quality of meat products sold by the supermarket chain. “Wong is synonymous with trust and quality in Peru and we are continuously looking for innovative ways to make the in-store experience better for our shoppers,” says Enrique Ameghino, Commercial Manager of perishables at Cencosud Peru’s Supermarkets division.
According to Yonathan Lapchik, SUKU’s Chief Executive Officer, consumers of Wong’s meat products will be able to get them verified and purchase them in a more transparent way with their SUKU app. “This partnership with Cencosud marks a major milestone for the SUKU team as we showcase the power of blockchain to help consumers make more informed choices for themselves and for their families”, he expressed.
It is noteworthy that the application will begin with meats, other products found at Wong supermarkets and eventually at other Cencosud retail stores, where the products will gradually be added to the system, creating a “SUKU Verified” standard of trust.
