Luno finally allows new customer to register in Malaysia. Last month, the Securities Commission (SC) confirmed Luno as a Registered Recognized Market Operators for Digital Assets Exchanges. It was the long awaited good news for Malaysian crypto community.
Early last year, Luno faced scrutiny by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) after the central bank issued a new policy as a countermeasure against money laundering and terrorist activities. It was during the budget speech, the Malaysia Minister of Finance (MoF), Lim Guan Eng announced a new regulatory framework will be set up to approve and monitor, digital currency and digital exchanges.
Earlier this year, the MoF and SC announced that new regulations on cryptocurrency will be under SC. However, Luno was prevented in accepting new customers until the new regulations set up.
With the recent announcement made, Malaysians can now register to buy, sell and trade Bitcoin with ease.
