The blockchain technology has been of great help for various industries for various reasons as its security and traceability have improved the operation vastly. Several education institutions have started allocating funds and faculties to put the technology to test.
Recently, Thammasat University has signed an agreement with the Provincial Public Health Saving Cooperative to jointly develop a blockchain-based election system. The Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Assoc. Prof. Gasinee Witoonchart, President of Thammasat University, and Somchok Poonsuk, President of Surat Thani Provincial Public Health Saving Cooperative.
The election system will be developed by the Center of Intellectual Property and Business Incubator of Thammasat University. It is said that the initiative is funded by Prof. Dr. Arnat Leemakdetch, President of TUIPI and will be put to test this year.
Asia Wealth Security Company Limited has signed an MoU with Thammasat University to share knowledge on commercial blockchain technology to Thammasat’s personnel in return to its support and advice on the projects that the company is responsible for in terms of checking the smart contract.
Apart from that, Thammasat University is also responsible to provide an academic counsel on blockchain technology and/or creating a smart contract.
