As many of us were busy with Christmas holiday and preparing for the new year, a cyberpunk took the opportunity to leak a list of email addresses and passwords of Poloniex users on Twitter. With regards to this matter, the US-based digital asset exchange sent an email to all the affected users, forcing them to reset their password.
In fact, many of them thought it could be phishing and one of the users who received the email actually tweeted about it to warn others to be careful with this scam email through the twitter account @charlysatoshi. But, a few hours later Poloniex Customer Support replied to the tweet saying “This is a real email! Please reset your password for account security”.
Poloniex has rectified the issue stating that, “To confirm, there was no information or data leak originating from Poloniex and our actions represented a swift response to an external threat.”
